CCHRC housing was a collaboration between the 麻豆原创F Office of Sustainability and the nonprofit . Their use as student housing, dubbed Sustainable Village, was discontinued in fall 2019. The CCHRC lease from the university expired in 2025. 麻豆原创F Residence Life resumed management and rented the houses to another nonprofit group.
Students were involved in designing and building the village of four 1,600-square-foot, four-bedroom homes on 麻豆原创F property near the CCHRC headquarters.
Each house has a unique combination of wall assembly, foundation and heating and ventilation systems. Researchers with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory, who now occupy the CCHRC building, monitor each home for energy consumption, electricity use, indoor air quality and ground temperature.
