Dr. Post teaches undergraduate and graduate music courses including theory, ear training, counterpoint, orchestration, and advanced courses in music analysis. He earned the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition from Michigan State University, the Master of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition from Western Washington University, and the Ph.D. degree in Music Theory and Composition from Kent State University. While a doctoral teaching fellow, he co-authored an undergraduate aural skills book which was adopted as a required undergraduate music text at Kent State.
Dr. Post鈥檚 research interests include the music of Anton Webern, post-tonal analysis, and developing strategies and techniques for effective music theory pedagogy. Dr. Post has presented numerous research papers at national and international conferences. Notably, his conference paper, 鈥淎nton Webern and the Golden Section: Temporal Proportions and Their Significance in Three Late Works, Opp. 27, 28 and 29鈥, was included in the first international meeting of the Paul Sacher Foundation in Cardiff, Wales in 2012. While teaching music courses in China, Dr. Post was invited to present a lecture and clinic, 鈥淪trategies and Techniques for Sight-Reading Performance鈥, to graduate students and faculty at the University of Guangzhou in Guangzhou, China. Dr. Post has also been active as a composer, with two of his choral works, 鈥淏less the Lord, O My Soul鈥 and 鈥淜yrie鈥, having been premiered by the University Chorus and the Choir of the North at the 麻豆原创-Fairbanks. He is an active member of the College Music Society and the Society for Music Theory.
