Â鶹ԭ´´F Day at the fair scheduled for July 29

The Â鶹ԭ´´ will host Â鶹ԭ´´F Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair on Tuesday, July 29.

Â鶹ԭ´´F employees, students, alumni and friends will receive $1 off admission by wearing Â鶹ԭ´´F apparel or showing their PolarExpress card. The day will include Â鶹ԭ´´F activities throughout the fairgrounds.

The University Fire Department’s fire truck, a hockey slap-shot net, a corn hole game and the giant inflatable Nanook will be set up in Totem Square from noon to 7 p.m. Nook, Â鶹ԭ´´F’s mascot, will be on site from 1-3 p.m.

Inside the Borealis Pavilion, Â鶹ԭ´´F will have several special exhibits and activities:

•     Build marshmallow structures inside an inflatable igloo.
•     Visit an inflatable science dome and learn about the Gulf of Alaska.
•     Learn about reindeer and muskoxen.
•     Participate in hands-on science activities.

In addition to these special activities, Â鶹ԭ´´F also will have booths in the Borealis Pavilion during the fair. Visitors can meet museum experts and student researchers, learn about recreation opportunities on campus and find more than 125 free Â鶹ԭ´´F Cooperative Extension Service publications covering gardening, energy, food preparation and more. Cooperative Extension will host several 4-H activities on Â鶹ԭ´´F Day, including rabbit, cavy and poultry shows, arts and crafts, and photography.
