As Alaska’s preeminent research university, Âé¶¹Ô´´F's Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization (OIPC) encourages broad practical application of Âé¶¹Ô´´F research for public benefit to support the university's research, education, and outreach mission by transforming discoveries into practical applications through the following activities:
- Foster a culture of creativity and innovation across the Âé¶¹Ô´´F community.
- Protect and Commercialize Âé¶¹Ô´´F discoveries by assisting researchers with patenting, licensing, and market entry.
- Cultivate sustainable partnerships between Âé¶¹Ô´´F and industry, with a primary focus on Alaska-based businesses.
- Manage the equitable distribution of royalties and financial benefits from intellectual property.
- Advance the economic development objectives for Alaska and the nation.

Ambassadors
Each year, faculty, staff, and students are selected to serve as Ambassadors to promote innovation and entrepreneurialism as well as OIPC's mission. Ambassadors have some guidelines but otherwise have liberty to explore and develop opportunities they're interested in. Ambassadors also serve as liaison to various colleges and institutes.
